Praise God for Rice Roots offers a dramatic recounting of life and work in India in the mid-twentieth century. This memoir, centered on the author’s jungle missionary family, is like a taut clothes line on which are hung vivid, true stories to catch a fresh breeze,
The lives of Father and Mother, the Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Dunn, and their dedicated colleagues, are darned and patched from much use, but strong as fine linen. Come and share with them the bright colours of Indian saints; the intriguing styles of rascals and sinners; the quiet simplicity of village folk through whom the Lord Jesus accomplishes the extra-ordinary.
Here is a book to draw you close with God’s own threads of compassion, forgiveness, courage and love.

Helen Dunn was born in India and educated in the system established throughout the British Empire by Cambridge University for its overseas schools and colleges. Because her parents were established in the east coast province of Orissa, she spoke Oriya before she learned English and remembers much of that language to this day. In America she met and married a young pastor. They celebrated nearly 60 years together in ministry, and she is now retired in California.
She has five children and six grandchildren.
