About the author

William P. Ross was born and raised in Brunswick County, Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia, and joined the NROTC from 1941 to 1943. He served active duty in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. In 1947 he received a Bachelor of Science for Commerce degree, and began working for First and Merchants National Bank. He worked at the bank for 40 years, and by the time he retired in 1993 as Executive Officer, it had become Nations Bank. William Ross has four children and recently moved from Richmond, Virginia to Virginia Beach. Jackie, his wife of 59 years, passed away in March of 2009.
